Let’s All Praise The Lord

“Father Abraham had many sons. Many sons had father Abraham. I am one of them and so are you. So, let’s all praise the Lord.”

If you grew up in any sort of church environment you, like me, most likely had this song memorized at a very young age. (I left out the ‘right arm, left arm’ lyrics, but I am sure you are all having flashbacks to marching around your Sunday school classrooms). Hebrews 11:12 is also probably very familiar to anyone who grew up in church; “And so from this one man… came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as sand on the seashore.” If you and I have accepted Jesus Christ as our savior, we are included in this inheritance.  We really are all ‘sons of Abraham’. When you look up at the stars in the sky it is easy to be overwhelmed with a sense of awe, marveling at the amazing hand of our creator.  To think that each of those stars represents one of his children is even more awe-inspiring. We worship a God who created the universe and created each one of us.  Why do we come up with excuses to separate ourselves from one another?  Every generation is represented in those stars and grains of sand on the seashore.  Why do we let age differences, stop us from understanding each other? Let’s not allow our silly conceited thoughts that we are somehow better than one another stop us from worshipping together and learning from each other. We were all once captive and now set free.  I have been, and so have you.  So, let’s all praise the Lord.
